The Florida Outcomes Interface generates statistics for
exploring how selected socioeconomic, demographic, health and behavior risk
factors impact maternal and child outcomes, for example, low birth weight, very low birth weight and infant death, in the state of Florida during the 2002 - 2006 years. The
Outcomes Interface can be used to output both descriptive and inferential
statistics. Descriptive statistics are useful for describing trends in
sizes of risk groups during the period covered by the database. Inferential statistics enable
comparison of the risk groups on the basis of their predicted adverse event
occurrence rates and help identify risk factors significantly associated with
adverse outcomes. Also, the Interface can be used to compare adverse event
prevention strategies involving interventions (e.g. smoking cessation programs)
to manipulate the population risk group distribution.
The Interface output for a particular event and year can be
generated by activating the "Calculator" appropriate for that event-year
combination.
For each outcome, click the particular year to access the
Calculator to determine the statistics for the outcome and year of interest.
